About Vista De Los Azules
VDLA was never created to follow the traditional rules of wine. It was built to tell the story of the people behind it.
For winemaker Dirk Brink, wine has always been deeply connected to agriculture, craftsmanship, and human effort. Raised just outside Cape Town, South Africa, he grew up surrounded by vineyards, farmland, and the rhythm of harvest seasons long before he ever stepped into a cellar. What began as a passion for viticulture eventually brought him to Washington State in 2004, where he fell in love with the rugged beauty of Washington wine country and the people who dedicate their lives to it.
Over the years, Dirk developed a winemaking philosophy rooted in authenticity, sourcing exceptional fruit, taking a minimal-intervention approach in the cellar, and allowing the vineyard to speak honestly through every bottle. But through his experience in the industry, one truth continued to stand out:
The most important people in wine are often the least recognized.
The vineyard workers who spend long days pruning vines in freezing temperatures. The hands stained from harvest. The dedication, sacrifice, and discipline that happen long before a cork is ever pulled. These are the people who make wine possible, yet their stories are rarely celebrated.
That belief became the soul of VDLA.

Every label is intentionally centered around the image of a vineyard worker, not as background imagery, but as the face of the brand itself. The goal was never to create another luxury wine built around status. It was to create something honest. A wine that bridges two worlds: the unseen labor in the vineyard and the experience of sharing a bottle around the table.
Today, VDLA sources intentionally from The Rocks District of Milton-Freewater, one of the most distinctive and demanding growing regions in the Pacific Northwest. Known for its rocky soils, intensity, and unmistakable character, The Rocks produces wines with depth, structure, and individuality, qualities that mirror the spirit behind the project itself.
At its core, VDLA exists to remind people that great wine is never created by one person alone.
Behind every bottle is a story of hard work, resilience, and people who deserve to be seen.
